Itinerary

Day 1 – Darwin to Kakadu

Welcome to Darwin, the Northern Territory’s tropical capital. There’s no time to waste, so get cracking at 6.30 am and hit the road. We travel East along the Arnhem Highway to the Corroboree Billabong on the Mary River, for a cruise to learn about the Top End’s wetlands, and a very good chance of sighting a variety of birdlife and the saltwater crocodiles. After lunch we continue to the border of Kakadu and Arnhem Land, Cahill’s Crossing, where the 4WD is utilised to traverse the croc-infested East Alligator River. Welcome to Arnhem Land. Learn about the cultural importance of the West Arnhem Land region as your Bininj guide takes you to restricted areas that First Nation ancestors have been visiting for thousands of years. Spend the afternoon learning about the region and its people’s history from your guide, before heading back to Kakadu for an overnight stay.
Meals Include:  Lunch & Dinner

Day 2 – Jim Jim Falls & Anbanbang

After and early breakfast we make our way to Jim Jim Falls.  Take a challenging walk through monsoon forest, rocks and a bit of scrambling over boulders, then relax with a dip in the clear waters beneath the falls.  After a bite to each it is off to Anbanbang, another site that features ancient rock art.  This is Warramal Land but sadly  there are no surviving Warramal people so the site is cared for by the Mirarr and Djok communities.  This afternoon you have the option of a scenic fight (bookable on board subject to availability) or visiting the Bowali Information Centre.
Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 3 – Gunlom or Maguk

Today we make our way to either Gunlom Falls or Maguk (Barramundi Gorge) to enjoy a swim in another crystal clear waterhole.  Maguk and Gunlom are both gems of Kakadu and neither of them will disappoint.  After a relaxing morning it is time to move onto the Gold Mining town of Pine Creek.  Here we stop for lunch before continuing onto Katherine “Nitmiluk National Park”.

Here we will enjoy a dinner with the group before settling in for the night.
Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 4 – Nitmiluk Gorge

Spend the day exploring Nitmiluk Gorge and the National Park, a wonderland of colours, wildlife and rock art.  Join a 2 hour Cruise and sit back and take in the beauty of the Gorge.  Note the optional cruise is seasonal and at your own expense.  We depart Nitmiluk for Edith Falls a hidden oasis of clear, cool waters surrounded by bronze boulders.  After a quick swim we continue to our camp on the edge of Litchfield National Park.
Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.

Optional Activities Katherine Gorge Cruise – bookable and payable on board

Day 5 – Litchfield National Park

After breakfast we head to Litchfield National Park to enjoy it’s gorgeous waterfalls, tropical rainforest and crystal clear waterholes.  Visit Wangi, Florence Falls or Buley Rockhole, then after  a lovely picnic lunch enjoy a stroll through the steamy rainforests and a refreshing dip before making our way back up the Stuart Highway towards Darwin. Meals Included: Breakfast & Lunch.
